Rose cookies....The new recipe I tried... in following post.

Hayley enjoyed "boo"ing people this yr... that we did it for Valentines this yr.... It is so hard to do it here as everyone has glass doors and it is so hard to sneak up on the doors.....
It still makes me smile when we drive past one of the houses we did the heart attack to.

New recipe- Mexican cookies

I saw these on another blog and thought they were so cute...... I had to try them. They are like a Mexican Wedding cookie..... Very different but really good. They were fun to make and fairly easy.......

Jody's Valentines Gift

This is what I made for Jody this yr for Valentines... They were filled with snacks, like sunflower seeds, Dark chocolate candies, M&M's, sugar babies/ red hots.......
Now if he doesn't eat them all in one day!

This is what we did for Hayley's Crazy Hair day at school...... Chy came up with this idea.... and it was good that it was easy because we went to a midnight showing of Lightening Thief the night before and I only got 3 hrs of sleep before having to wake up early to get the cinnamon rolls out of the fridge to rise for Chyanne's Spanish class party and do Chy's hair for Valentines and then doing Hayley's hair too! It stayed in really well considering how tall it was. She was the tallest kid in school! It was pretty funny watching her try to get in the car that morning....... I was laughing pretty hard!
She was so worried about her hair that she forgot all her Valentines and gifts that morning..... Too much going on that day!!!!
I think we will do this style every morning.... What do you think???

Hand sanitizer

Chocolate Ice cream sundaes (or so you think)

This is what me and the girls made for their teachers this yr..... Chy gave it to her Theater teacher. These were pretty fun to make... especially Hayley's as I was able to use the stale popcorn out of the pantry and get rid of it! Cleaning and crafting in one!!!
The tops lifted off and was filled with different kinds of chocolate.
Hayley also gave her teacher the decorated bottle of hand sanitizer..... who can't use hand sanitizer at Valentines!!!????? With all the kissing and hand holding...... wait this is 4th grade..... what was I thinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chyanne's Valentines

This is what Chyanne made for her Valentines to give her friends....... Are you at all surprised? They aren't just origami balls.... no they are origami balls filled with chocolate. Before she completed putting them together she put chocolate inside of the balls.. Cute idea huh!!! The little guys were just the right size for a Hershey Kiss. The big ones had 2 chocolate hearts and a kiss.

Hayley's Valentines for school

This is what we threw together for Hayley to hand out this yr. They were little match boxes that we emptied and covered and filled with candies. I thought they turned out really cute and then she gave them with little heart mazes...... Better than those stupid store bought paper valentines!!!!

Wedding cake

I have got to learn to keep my mouth shut! I somehow got to make another wedding cake.....
I ran into one of the ladies in the ward and she said she was making a wedding cake for the Yw's activity and of course I asked her if I could help........ she said she had it handled.... so I said well let me know if I can help!!!
I got a call about 2 hrs later from her.... she was stressing out and wanted me to help!
It was fun.... but stressful! The cake she had made kept coming apart into the frosting ..... but I don't think we did too bad for throwing this together in a couple of hours..... What do you think????

Chy is getting married!!!!

Scared you, didn't I !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was for a Young Womens activity...
They got dresses from ladies in the ward for all the girls and had a night on temple marriage. They talked to the girls about the decisions they need to make now to be able to get married in the temple later. Then they had them all dress in wedding dresses and had wedding cake. I can't believe how beautiful the girls looked. (especially Chy... the dress she borrowed fit her almost perfectly) I got to do most of the girls hair...... don't look at it very closely as I had about 30 sec per girl as they were running behind on time!!! But I think in the end it was really a fun night for everyone. I still don't think I will be ready when this post is really coming true!!!!!!!!

Well, we are trying to be like the Jones..... oh wait... I don't know that that really fits, cause this will help us save money!!!
Our friends got one of these fireplace inserts and I fell in love. I didn't even know they made these... anyways, I happened to look on Craigslist one day and found this. Jody was so excited too until he had to move it into the house..... and find firewood, and then chop it all!!!!
Well I think we have finally got it working..... I am not sitting here with a blanket on all day..... I wouldn't say it is toasty warm in here, but it is as warm as our heater ever was and we hopefully will save a lot of money on heating next yr...... now if I could just do something about the cooling bill.
The kids have loved the fireplace..... I think we have gone through about 10 packs of hotdogs since last week! They love roasting things in the fire. Oh well, now we don't have to go camping to roast hotdogs and marshmellows.

I haven't posted pictures of our dogs lately.... and because they (mostly piper) are so cute... you have to look at pictures of them! LOL LOL LOL

Solo and Ensemble

The 4 french hornists..... is that a word?

Chy did 6 performances this yr at Solo and Ensemble.... WOW... talk about overachiever ... She did a solo on her trumpet and French horn, a french horn ensemble, a sextet, and a full band and a small brass ensemble. She got all 1's except for one 2 on her brass ensemble because the Baritone kid never practiced.
Here is her french horn solo.... She worked on this for almost 8 months.. it is Mozart concerto #1 in D major..... The judge said that at her age she shouldn't be able to play this and get a 1 score.

These are the second and third batch of cookies I made for the job I was trying for..... I made the second batch after the activity day cookies and then made the third batch after I stacked them before they were all the way dry and ruined the second batch! Dumb!!! I liked my second batch better,,,, as my third batch... the frosting did something really weird when it dried. Oh well!! Still looked ok and tasted good.
