Chy's band tour to elemetary

They finally got go! This trip was canceled on account that we were supposed to get a huge snowstorm last friday which..... never happened! Then today they were supposed to go to lunch and then the school, but the buses went to the wrong place, so no lunch, just the concert!
It was fun and they did well. I sat on the floor with the elementary kids right in front of chy so I got to hear her play! She was really good. It was fun to hear the french horns over top the band..

My new clock...

I saw this idea and thought it would be cute in our band room/ library...... I got the book for free from a book store that was getting rid of it..... and put it together..... I really think it is cute and something different.

What you shouldn't do when making peanut brittle...

This is an example of what you shouldn't do when you are making Peanut Brittle.....
I accidently touched my finger with the brittle while I was pouring the brittle out onto the pan after it was cooked!! Wow, that stuff is hot... luckily it hardened really quick so I was able to pull it off easily but it sure burned my finger.... this is what it looks like a day later..... Owwww!!!!!

My thanksgiving wreath

This is the wreath I made for this yr for Thanksgiving.... It is made out of candy corn.... which I bought for 50 cents a bag after Halloween.... It was fun to make as soon as I figured out that craft glue doesn't work...it just dissolves the candy..... but hot glue works.... Isn't it cute? It makes me smile when I see it.

Chy's hairdo

I was playing around with a few styles and this is what I came up with.... I love having a few extra mins in the morning...... It was really cute on her.... I think I combined about 4 different style in this one... and it was still pretty fast....

Turkey treats

I made these for the Activity girls for our last activity.... I was at the store when I thought of making these and I couldn't remember all the things I needed so when I got home I didn't have time to go back the the store... so I used what we already had.... I still think they turned out pretty cute... What do you think??? I also made a pumpkin roll for the desert.... it doesn't look as cute but it sure tasted good.....

Thanksgiving rolls

This was so cute and easy at the same time.... at the last second before we had to leave( of course).... I remembered that I had wanted to make these..... so against Jody's warning that we didn't have enough time.... Chy and I threw this together and hurried and cooked it ( which I need a few more min to cook at it was a bit doughy in the middle,,,, but it is all about the presentation right.....?) I think it was so cute..... better than just boring rolls right!!!

Chy's Thanksgiving hairdo

Isn't it so cute...... it kinda just happened as I started to put Chy's hair up as we were leaving for Thanksgiving dinner..... She wanted it twisted up and as I started doing it I thought it kinda looked like a turkey..... so I added the feathers, the eyes , the legs and the dangling neck thing....... I was laughing so hard while I was making her Turkey that she thought I had finally lost it!!!!! I had alot of fun doing this one!!!

Thanksgiving pies

These are some pics of the pies I took to our thanksgiving dinner at our friends/ward members house. The apple pie doesn't look as purty as normal as I tried a few new things..... I painted the hearts red before cooking and they burned a bit,,,, and don't put cinnamon sugar on before cooking as that also tends to burn.. The pie wasn't burnt but it looked like it was..... but it sure tasted good. And luckily my crust was flakey again this yr.... yea!
The other pic is my cranberry swirl cheesecake. It was pretty good. I liked the bit of tartness the cranberry swirl added!

Cupcakes for Thanksgiving dinner

Don't these just look so yummy!!!!! Oh and they tasted even better than they looked!!! They took some time to make but they were well worth it! They are a pumpkin cupcake with cream cheese frosting! I have finally found a frosting I like! This was so yummy and the texture was perfect and it held up so well..... and did I mention it was so yummy!!! You guys missed out!!! Hope the pictures make up for it..... maybe try licking the screen and see if you can imagine how good they tasted!!!!

I never thought this is what it would look like after 2 weeks!!! The bees absolutely loved it and it dripped sticky orange goop all over the door and porch and we know a few animals were licking it up as the dogs would go crazy over it!!!! Here is the proof!! Frodo started going crazy one night barking at the front door so we opened it and this poor guy ran up the tree!!! Way to go Frodo.... You tree'd your first possum. Dad is so proud of you!!! Good job buddy!

Smoking our turkey

Ok, we didn't do this for Thanksgiving..... but I was craving Turkey and it went on sale so we tried Smoking it...... and it worked! Ok, so I bought a 22 pound turkey (I told you I was craving turkey!!) and you aren't supposed to smoke one that big (as it is too hard to get it to the right temperature fast enough) but we cooked it hotter and longer and it worked out pretty well. Doesn't it look good!!!!!

This is what we do when chy is trying out for region band........ we form an assembly line and do hair!
At the last minute I threw in a brush and a comb and the new elastics I had bought, into the stuff we were taking...... I don't know why but was a good thing I did as one of the friends of chy asked her to braid her hair.... and that turned into me helping chy (as I couldn't just let her do a braid!!!) and then that turned into another girl asking, and then a few more, and then a few more girls joined in with helping braid and pretty soon the whole table was involved!!!
It was really fun and passed alot of time for the kids! Even two boys got their hair done.... they didn't keep it in long though! They were wimps! They said it made their head hurt!!!! Wahhhh!!!
I had brought a new elastics that had 250 in there and we probably used half of them!!!! Enjoy some of the hairdo's.
Plus the results of the competition....... for those who can't read it.................wait........... Chy got 2nd chair!!!!WOW!!!!!! So proud of her.....Good job Chy!!!
